Accompanied my friend to the abovementioned shop in SLS 2hrs ago to purchase a Nikon 35mm f/2D lens (in-house warranty), a 52mm UV filter & a 58mm lens cap. Tested the lens and agreed all items at a total sum of $499. After the saleman have written the receipt and my friend was about to make payment, when he took out his ATM NETS card, another saleman walk up and request for cash. So I said to him, we don't have so much cash at hand, so I said to him, what's the problem by paying NETS? He reply to me that any amount above $300 the Nets company will charge them extra $5. (Anyone out there heard such a thing before or is it a new rules).
fter hearing that both of us got so pissed off. I told the saleman that we are not paying by credit as we all know that extra % will incurred if we pay by credit but now we are paying by NETS. The saleman still insist us to pay by cash and ask my friend go to the nearest ATM to withdraw cash. Now my friend got even more pissed off after hearing this. By this time both of us told the saleman that we'll come back with the cash. But instead we walk out of the stupid shop and went back to office. Let them loose a customer today.
Came across this posting on a local forum for photography. While I was reading this, I am beginning to wonder what is really wrong with Singaporeans and HOW STUPID can they be? While running a business right here in Singapore, I can really understand that sometimes, the amount being made is almost near to nothing. There are items that shops are selling, making only a couple of dollars per item. They probably have to sell more than a 1000 similar items just for ends to meet.
Some Singaporeans think that they know everything. How much would I love to tell them that actually, the only thing that they know is themselves and anything more than that, zilllllllllllllllllllllllll. Singaporeans these day are growing more and more arrogant, especially as a consumer.
I have once witness this. While shopping in Phuket, Thailand, there was this lady carrying two childs, barely a year old each, selling drinks. This Singaporean walked past, wanting to quench their thirst with a coconut, was trying to bargain the drink by 50 baht, which is about SGD2. For the sake of god, SGD$2 is almost nothing to any Singaporean but that 50baht means a day of meal for the entire family. Why be so calculative over a pathetic SGD$2. That 50baht meant everything. I was rather ashamed being a Singaporean at that moment.
Wake up Singaporeans. You are neither king nor more superior as a consumer. Be respectful, we were once citizens of a third world country too.
